Ultra-D Tox Capsules, provided by Douglas Laboratories®, contain significant quantities of detoxifying herbs, minerals, and probiotics, as well as vitamin C.

FUNCTIONS
Bentonite powder offers significant detoxification support. It can tightly bind and immobilize toxic compounds, such as aflatoxins, in the gastrointestinal
tract. The bioavailability of the toxic compound is greatly reduced in the bentonite bound state.  The dietary fiber offered by the psyllium, celery, flax
seed powders, and prune concentrate provide many nutritional benefits for the health and detoxifying properties of the gastrointestinal tract. Soluble dietary
fiber, such as pectin, many gums, and some hemicelluloses, are fermented in the colon to varying degrees. This results in lower colonic pH (acidity) and the production of short chain fatty acids, important for the health and detoxifying power of not only mucosal cells, but also the intestinal microflora.  Probiotic dietary Lactobacillus acidophilus colonizes the intestinal tract, depending on the specific bacterium-to-host affinity. Bacteria are continually in competition for colonization space. The original bacterial colonies have an advantage over transient bacteria. Nevertheless, the composition of the intestinal microflora is dynamic and constantly changing.  If harmful microorganisms proliferate, the
equilibrium is disturbed, and it becomes difficult even for indigenous bacteria to maintain their necessary territory to colonize the intestine.  Antibiotics tend to kill off both beneficial and harmful bacteria, and thus may also disturb the
normal, healthy balance of intestinal microorganisms.  When potent probiotic and detoxifying supplements, such as Ultra-D Tox Capsules, are supplied regularly, chances are greatly increased for establishing and maintaining a healthy population of beneficial intestinal microorganisms.  Once established, a normal intestinal microflora rich in lactobacilli creates acidic conditions that are
unfavorable for the settlement of toxic pathogenic microorganisms. Garlic and mint can be useful in supporting the healthy structure and function of the
gastrointestinal tract, especially during detoxification.  Vitamin C, as an antioxidant, helps eliminate the highly toxic free radicals that can be very dangerous to many biomolecules in the body.
